Meghan Markle y Harry realizarán transmisión junto a Malala

El príncipe Harry y su esposa, Meghan Markle, siguen con sus tareas como activistas tras abandonar la realeza británica. Dentro de su agenda la pareja ha mostrado un especial interés sobre los problemas de educación que enfrenta el mundo.

Bajo este panorama, los famosos participarán con la activista Malala Yousafzai en una transmisión sobre los retos que enfrentan las niñas para acceder a la educación en la pandemia de coronavirus. La conversación de la pareja con la activista educativa de 23 años será publicada en el canal de YouTube de la organización Malala Fund y en su sitio el domingo, para celebrar el Día Internacional de la Niña. 

El chat aborda cómo la pandemia ha tenido un impacto desproporcionado en el acceso de las jóvenes a la educación. De acuerdo con datos de Malala Fund, 20 millones de niñas con edad para estudiar la secundaria podrían no regresar al salón de clases después de que termine la crisis de salud.

50 years ago, women in Britain won the right to equal pay. That monumental moment began with one courageous and inspiring group of women in a factory in Dagenham, England. In 1968, facing a pay settlement that declared them less skilled than men, the sewing machinists of the Ford Motor Company walked out on strike. In the face of great pressure, they stood firm, and two years later the UK Parliament was forced to pass the Equal Pay Act, protecting and supporting working women ever since. To mark International Women’s Day, The Duchess of Sussex visited Dagenham to meet with Geraldine Dear, one of the strikers, and spend time with students at the Robert Clack Upper School to meet the town’s next generation of female role models, and talk to young women and men about the women who inspire them. • “Being in Dagenham is incredibly profound. Meghan, quien vive actualmente en California con Harry para buscar independencia económica de la monarquía británica, ha hecho campaña por la educación de las niñas desde hace tiempo. También ha hablado sobre igualdad de género en foros como la Conferencia de ONU Mujeres en 2015.

En 2011 Naciones Unidas declaró el 11 de octubre como el Día Internacional de la Niña para promover los derechos de las niñas y abordar los retos que enfrentan en el mundo.
